ENGLISH:
1) How to Help Rice Plants to Grow Better and Produce More: Teach Yourself and Others, the original SRI manual, has been developed jointly by CIIFAD and Tefy Saina to explain SRI to persons working with farmers to communicate the main ideas underlying SRI. (pdf, 175 KB)
2) Philippines: An 8-page manual, More Rice with Less Water through SRI, has been translated into English by Dr. Pam Fernandez at the Univeristy of the Philippines at Los Banos. (pdf, 143 KB)
3) India: The Kadiramangalam System of Rice Intensification methodology, developed by S. Gopal and used in the Cauvery Delta region of Tamil Nadu, is described in a single page.
4) India: This 14-page manual entitled "SRI: A Revolutionary Method of Rice Cultivation" was put together by the Director of Extension and senior scientists at the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University in Hyderabad, India. (pdf, 817 KB)
5) India: A 20-page English translation of the manual "System of Rice Intensification: An Emerging Alternative" was produced in Andhra Pradesh by the Indian NGOs Watershed Support Services and Activities Network (WASSAN) and the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (CSA) with support from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)
6) India: SRI Method of Paddy Cultivaton, a 20 page manual published by WASSAN (with input from K. Rao, WWF, ICRISAT, CRISP, J.Raju, ANGRAU, Sitaramaswamy, and the People's Science Institute. (also available in Hindi, Oriya and Telugu versions).
7) India: Weeders: A Reference Compendium. WASSAN, 28 p
8) India: SRI Basics. Online info on IKISAN, an India-based internet agri-portal.
9) Nepal: This 16-page manual entitled "What is S.R.I.?" was produced by the SRI Group-Nepal (sri-nepal@yahoogroups.com) an alliance of NGOs and individuals working on various aspects of SRI in Nepal. (pdf, 749 KB)

FRENCH: Comment Faire pour Avoir des Plants de Riz Qui Croissent Mieux et Qui Produisent plus Informez--Vous et Informez les Autres, a 20-pagemanual developed by Tefy Saina, incorporates detailed knowledge of SRI. (pdf, 230 KB)

SPANISH:
1) Cuba: 3-page manual on SRI, Sistema Intensivo de Cultivo Arrocera, SICA #1 (pdf 21 KB), based on materials from CIIFAD and Tefy Saina, developed by Dr. Rena Perez for use in Cuba. Additional information is in SICA #2 (pdf, 38 KB)
2) Peru: A 6-page manual on SRI, El Sistema de Intensificación del Cultivo Arrocero (SICA), was developed by the NGO Asociación Promoción y Desarrollo Agario (Pro-A) in Chiclayo, Peru, together with the Asociación Productores de Arroz Ramadino in (pdf, 864 KB).


THAI: A Thai SRI manual was authored by The Agricultural Extension Unit at the McKean Rehabilitation Center in Chanig Mai, Thailand, authored this manual. (A separate English language introduction (pdf, 252 pdf) to the Thai version as well as the Thai version with an English title and author page are also available on the Web). (pdf, 446 KB)

TELUGU (India):
1) A 6-page extension bulletin is available online from the Watershed Support Network (WASSAN). A longer version is available directly below. Hard copies available for RS 10./ from the WASSAN SRI web page (852 KB pdf file)
2) A 16-page extension bulletin was obtained from Dr. A. Satyanarayana, the Director of Extension for Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) in Andhra Pradesh. The manual was sponsored by WWF, WASSAN, and CSA (2.25 MB pdf file. A shorter version is directly above)
3) A 16-page extension bulletin was obtained from P. Balahussain Reddy, Training Associate (Agrcultural Extension), RASS-ARKVK (1.35 MB pdf file). 2000 hard copies have been provided to extension functionaries, officers of the state agriculture department, NGOs and farmers.
4) A 6-page extension bulletin was obtained from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University . (Hard copy by RARS, Lam, Guntur - 34. Agricultural Information Series No. 70, January, 2004) (!! 1.4 MB pdf file)
5) SRI Method of Paddy Cultivaton, a 20 page manual published by WASSAN (with input from K. Rao, WWF, ICRISAT, CRISP, J.Raju, ANGRAU, Sitaramaswamy, and the People's Science Institute. (also available in Hindi, Oriya and English versions).

MALAGASY (Madagascar): Voly Vary Maro Anaka: Systeme de Riziculture Intensive, a 36 page Malagasy langauge SRI manual by Association Tefy Saina (3.11MB pdf)

• NEPALI
1) A 6-page SRI manual on SRI was produced by Appropriate Technology Asia. (4 MB pdf - slow download!)
2) A 16-page SRI manual by Rajendra Uprety is available from the Morang District Agricultural Development Office, Ministry of Agriculture, Nepal (!2.234 MB pdf).
3) A 16-page SRI manual by the Appropriate Technology Asia and the SRI Group-Nepal, an alliance of NGOs and idividuals interested in SRI (pdf, 749 KB) (An English version is also available).

CAMBODIA: CEDAC's Khmer language Farmer and Nature magazine (July, 2001) has a major section on SRI (caution: *file is very large*- 20 MB)

CUBA: Sistema Intensivo de Cultivo Arrocena (SICA) is a 3-page SRI bulletin in Spanish with practical information on SRI. The material was adapted for use in Cuba by Dr. Rena Perez. SICA bulletin #1 (pdf, 21 KB) and #2 (pdf, 38 KB) are also available.

GLOBAL: SRI, The System of Rice Intensification: Less Can be More, was published in the January 2001 edition (#70) of the ECHO Development Notes a newsletter received by 3,000 development professionals in 140 countries. (see also pdf version - 405KB)

INDONESIA
1) ADRA Video: (English) With the initiative of Bruce Ewart, the ADRA program in Indonesia now working with SRI with great results has made a professionally-produced video on SRI, which is to be available to anyone who wants to use it. A different sound-track (in another language) can be added, with the only proviso that ADRA be acknowledged as the producer of this video. (Note: If you are having trouble viewing the video, check the RealPlayer website for a free upgrade).

2) Decentralized Irrigation System Improvement Project in Eastern Region of Indonesia (DISIMP) videos in English and Bahasa Indonesia (2007).

• IRAQ
Dr. Khidir Hameed has provided several TV program clips about his SRI work and related rice projects in Iraq. The downloadable material, which is in Arabic, was originally broadcast on Al Ghadeer TV (23.8 MB) in the province of Najaf (24.8 MB), Al Diyar TV in Baghdad (2.84 MB) and Salah Al-Deen, which is also in Baghdad (18.0 MB).
