OBJECTIVES

  • Conduct IEC activities to increase awareness level, involvement, and participation of stakeholders and communities in watershed health monitoring and management of water catchments.
  • Establish a pilot site for water quality, biodiversity, socio-economic, and land and resource use patterns monitoring using a multi-stakeholder approach
  • Build capacity of stakeholders to generate information
  • Initiate activities directed towards institutionalization of watershed health monitoring at the provincial, municipal and barangay levels.

PROGRESS

The CFTU (WHM) – Loboc AFA Support project is directed towards addressing the gaps identified during the operation of the program. Among these gaps include the need to establish watershed-wide impact indicators that will be used in assessing the program’s development impact to the community and to the environment (health of watershed). There is also the challenge of coming up with a unified vision that shall set the direction towards achieving effective management of resources in side the watershed. The program implementers also see the need to popularize all the program’s experiences and insights among different stakeholders. This would hopefully impact on the improvement of the Loboc AFA program management through establishment of systematic program monitoring and evaluation system and action learning methodology to address key watershed-wide problems.
